What sets Mauritius apart from other locations?

Mauritius sits at the crossroads of the Indian Ocean, just about 1,100 km east of Madagascar and only 230 km northwest of Réunion. The island is connected via multiple undersea fibre‑optic cables such as METISS, LION and SAFE, delivering low‑latency, high‑capacity links to both the African mainland—via major landing points in Cape Town and Durban in South Africa and Mombassa in Kenya—and to Asia, landing in India and Singapore. With round‑trip times of roughly 55 ms to the main data‑centres in South Africa, 180 ms to Europe and 80 ms to Singapore, Mauritius is the ideal location for organisations seeking a high‑performance alternative hosting site in Africa that also offers excellent international connectivity.

On top of world‑class connectivity, Mauritius enjoys a very stable and reliable electricity grid, managed and maintained by the state‑owned provider. Reliance on emergency generators, common in many African states, is virtually non‑existent here.

All of this, combined with highly efficient, state‑of‑the‑art data‑centre facilities, strong legal protection for data within the country, and a well‑trained, skilled workforce, establishes Mauritius as a strategic hub for hosting, edge‑caching and disaster‑recovery scenarios across the African region.

What is the latency from Mauritius to other countries such as South Africa, Singapore and Europe?

Round‑trip latency is approximately ~55 ms to South Africa, ~80 ms to Singapore and ~180 ms to Europe. Actual latency depends on the route that is being used and can vary, depending on network load and other external factors.
